Love this recipe. I have a sweet spot for french toast, and I didn't think it could get sweeter until I tried this recipe. It's sooo good!
Serves 4
Ingredients:
1/2 cup honey
2/3 cup sugar
1 1/3 cup milk
1 egg
Pinch of Salt
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon cinnamon
4 slices Sara Lee Pound Cake (you can find these individually packaged in the baking isle or bake your own)
For the Apples:
4 tablespoons butter
2 apples, diced
1/4 cup brown sugar
Pinch of salt
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon grated nutmeg
Directions:
1. Whisk together honey, sugar, milk, vanilla and cinnamon. Pour over pound cake and let it absorb while you cook the apples.
2. In a small skillet, melt 2 tablespoons butter and add apples, brown sugar, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Sauté until tender and reserve.
3. In another skillet, add remaining 2 tablespoons butter and add soaking pound cake slices. Cook until golden on both sides.
4. Serve pound cake French toast topped with apples.
